OPEN CASTING CALL– SISTER DEVELOPMENT RESIDENCY
We’re looking for two creative actor-singers to help us develop the lead roles for ‘Sister’, a new show from northern arts collective Ulita.
This will take the form of a one-week residency in which we’ll discuss the themes of the show, improvise scenes, and explore the characters. You’ll be working alongside us to develop the role, so an interest in improvisation/devising is key!
Applicants of any age, gender, and ethnicity are welcome, as well as those who identify as D/deaf or disabled.
DETAILS OF THE RESIDENCY
When // 8th-13th February 2021 (COVID-19 permitting)
Where // Snape Maltings, Suffolk, UK
Fee // £700 for the week plus expenses and accommodation
ABOUT THE SHOW
’Sister’ is a 2 act, musically-driven show about a brother and sister, who live on opposite sides of the world, so only speak over the phone/internet. When we meet them, the brother - a painter - is preparing for his first solo show, an exhibition drawing on their childhood in Stockport. ‘Sister’ is about the power-play and emotional landscape of a sibling relationship, set against the backdrop of his anxiety disorder, her compulsion for storytelling, and the shadows of their shared memories.
‘Sister’ is written for 2 actor-singers, and an eight-piece improvising ensemble.
